Line items add up to a GST-split total
Each line item’s taxable value is quantity × rate. GST is applied per line at that line’s own rate (since different items on one invoice can carry different GST slabs), then totalled. For same-state supply, that total GST is split evenly into CGST and SGST; for different-state supply, it’s charged in full as IGST. Subtotal + GST = grand total, which is also spelled out in words for the printed invoice.
Common questions
GST is split by whether the seller and buyer are in the same state (intra-state) or different states (inter-state). Intra-state supply splits the total GST evenly into CGST (to the Centre) and SGST (to the state); inter-state supply charges the full rate as IGST instead. The rate itself doesn’t change — only how it’s labelled and divided. Use the "Same state / Different state" toggle to switch.
