Who this card is for
Infinia Metal is a high-income, invite-mostly card built for frequent travelers and high spenders who will actually use its top-tier perks often enough to justify the fee. It isn't priced or positioned as an everyday card, and HDFC does not accept open online applications for it.
Fees and welcome benefit
The joining and annual renewal fee is Rs.12,500 plus GST -- one of the highest in the Indian market. On fee realisation and activation, HDFC credits 12,500 Reward Points as a welcome benefit, and cardholders also get a complimentary Club Marriott membership for the first year.
Reward rate breakdown
| Spend category | Effective rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| General retail (base rate) | 3.33% | 3.33 Reward Points per Rs.100, including insurance, utilities, and education paid directly to the institution |
| SmartBuy hotels | Up to 33% | 10X points (33.33 RP/Rs.100) |
| SmartBuy flights | Up to 16.5% | 5X points |
| SmartBuy brand vouchers (GyFTR/Woohoo) | Up to 16.5% | Capped at 3,000 accelerated RP/month within the wider 15,000 RP/month SmartBuy cap, effective 1 July 2026 |
| Fuel, rent (via third-party apps), government transactions, EasyEMI, e-wallet loading | 0% | Explicitly excluded |
Redemption is 1 Reward Point = Rs.1 for flights, hotels, and select brands (Apple, Tanishq) via SmartBuy -- a genuinely strong 1:1 floor that most competing programs don't match outside of a narrow promotional window.
Lounge, golf, and travel perks
Unlimited complimentary domestic and international airport lounge access via Priority Pass covers both the primary and add-on cardholder. Unlimited golf games and lessons at select courses, a 24/7 global concierge, and a 2% forex markup (reducible to an effective ~1% net with the Global Value Program cashback) round out the travel package -- most rival cards cap lounge visits per quarter rather than offering it unlimited.
What changed in 2026
HDFC briefly cut SmartBuy brand-voucher earnings to 3X in January 2026 before rolling the change back, and then introduced the current 3,000 RP/month sub-cap on vouchers (within the existing 15,000 RP/month SmartBuy ceiling) from 1 July 2026. More significantly, from 1 April 2026 HDFC tied continued invitation/retention to roughly Rs.18 lakh of annual card spend or Rs.50 lakh of banking relationship value -- worth knowing if you're hoping to keep the card at moderate spend levels.
How it compares
Against ICICI's Emeralde Private Metal (flat 3% but rewards insurance/education/utilities without the SmartBuy dependency) and Axis Magnus for Burgundy, Infinia's edge is the SmartBuy redemption ceiling and the unlimited lounge access extending to add-on cards. Emeralde is the closer substitute if your bank relationship is with ICICI rather than HDFC.
Bottom line
Genuinely the strongest all-round premium card in the Indian market for someone who travels often, uses SmartBuy for flight/hotel bookings, and spends heavily enough to offset the fee. Overkill and expensive for anyone spending under a few lakh rupees a month, and the April 2026 retention rule means you'll want a realistic plan to keep spend near Rs.18 lakh/year if you want to hold onto the invitation long-term.
