HSBC Live+ Credit Card Review: 10% Dining and Grocery Cashback, Upgraded July 2026

Finance & Business 4.0 Updated 24 August 2026 Rs.999 + GST/year (waived above Rs.2 lakh annual spend)

Pros

  • 10% cashback on dining, food delivery, grocery, shopping, and utilities -- highest in its fee tier
  • July 2026 upgrade raised the monthly cap to Rs.1,200 (up to Rs.14,400/year)
  • Confirmed to work on Swiggy, Zomato, and Blinkit specifically
  • Achievable Rs.2 lakh annual-spend fee waiver, plus a Rs.1,000 welcome cashback

Cons

  • International spends lost all cashback eligibility in the July 2026 upgrade
  • Lounge access reduced to 2 domestic/year (max 1 per 6 months) plus 1 international/year from Sept 2026
  • Only available to residents of a defined list of ~18 cities
  • Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra earn the base 1.5% rate, not the 10% rate

Reward structure, current as of the July 2026 upgrade

Live+ pays 10% cashback on dining, food delivery, grocery, shopping, and utility spends, up to Rs.1,200 per statement cycle (raised from Rs.1,000 in the July 2026 upgrade to Visa Infinite), plus 1.5% unlimited cashback on everything else. At the new cap, that's up to Rs.14,400/year in accelerated cashback alone -- Rs.2,400 more than the pre-upgrade ceiling.

Which apps actually qualify

HSBC's own terms confirm Swiggy, Zomato, and Blinkit all trigger the 10% rate -- the three most-used food and grocery delivery apps in India. Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra purchases earn the base 1.5% rate rather than 10%, since they fall under general shopping rather than the accelerated dining/grocery/food-delivery categories.

Fee and waiver

Joining and annual fee is Rs.999 + GST, offset in year one by a Rs.1,000 welcome cashback for spending Rs.20,000 within the first 30 days and logging into the HSBC India app. The annual fee is waived from the first anniversary onward if eligible spend across primary and add-on cards exceeds Rs.2 lakh in the anniversary year -- an average of roughly Rs.16,700/month.

What the July 2026 changes took away

The same upgrade that raised the monthly cap also cut international cashback entirely -- foreign transactions no longer earn any cashback rate -- and reduced lounge access. As of the current terms, cardholders get two complimentary domestic lounge visits per year (limited to one visit every six calendar months), plus one complimentary international lounge visit per year starting 1 September 2026. The forex markup itself is a competitive 1.99%.

Exclusions

No cashback on fuel, rent, insurance, education, government payments, or wallet transactions -- a fairly standard exclusion list for this card category.

Eligibility

Minimum annual income of Rs.6 lakh for salaried applicants, and the card is currently issued only to residents of a defined list of metro and tier-1 cities (Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kochi, Coimbatore, Noida, Gurgaon, Indore, Baroda, and Amritsar).

How it compares

Against Axis ACE (5% on utility bills via Google Pay only, capped lower) and SBI Cashback (5% flat online, no lounge access), Live+'s 10% rate on dining/grocery/food-delivery is the highest headline rate among mainstream cashback cards at this fee tier -- the trade-off is that it's narrower in scope, rewarding a specific cluster of daily-life categories rather than all online spend.

Bottom line

The strongest cashback card in India specifically for households that spend heavily on dining, food delivery, and groceries -- the July 2026 cap increase makes it more valuable than it was, even as international cashback disappeared entirely. Less compelling if your spending is spread evenly across categories or if you travel internationally often, where the loss of forex cashback now stings.
